How to produce your clothing line in the UAE
You have a design, or the beginning of one. This page explains how it becomes a real garment — what happens at each stage, what affects the cost, and where to start.
It is written for independent brands and first-time founders, but the process is the same whether you need one sample or a full uniform program.
The short version
Production happens in four stages: specification, sample, fitting, production. Everything else — fabric sourcing, grading, finishing — hangs off those four. You do not need a finished tech pack to start. You need a clear idea and one conversation.
Specification, sample, fitting, production.
- 01
Specification
A specification is the garment described precisely: the cut, the fabric, the measurements, the artwork and where it sits. This is the document production works from.
If you already have a tech pack, we work from that. If you don’t, the Sample Maker exists for exactly this: pick a garment, place your artwork on it, and it produces a written spec with real dimensions in centimetres. That spec is enough to open a conversation.
- 02
Sample
The sample is the first physical garment. It exists to answer questions a drawing can’t: how the fabric falls, whether the proportions work, how the print or embroidery sits on cloth.
Expect the sample to be imperfect. That is its job. A sample that comes back with three things to change is a successful sample — those three things would otherwise have been wrong across the whole run.
- 03
Fitting and revision
You wear it, or your fit model does. We measure what needs to move and revise. Because everything is made to measure rather than cut to standard sizes, this stage is where the garment becomes yours: the block is adjusted to real bodies, not a size chart.
One round of revision is normal. Two happens. More than that usually means the spec, not the sewing, needs another look — and we’ll say so.
- 04
Production
Once the sample is approved, production is repetition with discipline: the same garment, made to the same standard, at quantity.
What actually affects the cost
No two garments price the same, which is why nothing on this site carries a price. But the levers are consistent:
Fabric is usually the largest single variable — both the cloth itself and how much of it the cut consumes. Construction complexity is second: a lined blazer is a different job from a t-shirt. Decoration — embroidery, print, appliqué — prices by size and technique. Quantity matters less than people expect at small runs and more at large ones.
The honest answer to “what will it cost” is a quote against your spec, which is free and does not commit you to anything. Start with the Sample Maker or send an inquiry.
How long it takes
The slowest stage is almost always waiting on decisions, not sewing. A client who reviews the sample the week it’s ready moves twice as fast as one who doesn’t.
Before you write in.
- Do I need a tech pack to start?
- No. A tech pack helps, but a clear description and reference images are enough. The Sample Maker produces a workable spec from a garment choice and your artwork.
- Can you produce just one piece?
- Yes. Made-to-measure is the core of what we do — single garments, small runs, and full programs are all normal work here.
- Who owns my design?
- You do. Your artwork, your spec, your garment. We produce it; we don’t resell it.
